Changing the Game Means Owning the Responsibility
What happens when you become the biggest player in a fast-growing space?
People start asking questions. Good ones. Tough ones. Important ones.
And we’re here for all of them.
Gigablue is proud to be a company that people care about, because we are on a mission to combat climate change by accelerating a return to environmental balance.
We believe the challenge of global warming demands massive action grounded in rigorous scientific oversight to bring solutions that have the speed and scale to succeed in removing the excess gigatons of carbon dioxide that are currently rapidly overheating our planet.
That’s why we’ve spent the last several years devoting our professional and personal lives to the development of a novel solution that improves natural carbon removal pathways in ways that minimized any adverse effects on the ocean ecosystem while making a big impact on the planet.
That’s why we worked with Puro.earth to establish a methodology for marine carbon dioxide removal.
That’s why we’re proud to have early partners like who have committed to purchase offsets from us when we begin commercial engagement – in the largest purchase order for marine carbon dioxide removal at the fastest rates the industry will have ever seen.
That’s why our work has been reviewed and validated by leading scientific, regulatory, and civic organizations in New Zealand, a nation that has the opportunity to become one of the global leaders in carbon dioxide removal.
We are proud to operate at the highest integrity:
Our MMRV (measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification) framework is under review by Puro.earth, one of the world’s leading carbon credit standards bodies.
Our environmental assessments have been reviewed by third parties including some of the world’s most respected marine research institutions. They have independently found our approach to be scientifically sound, with minimal to no risk to marine ecosystems.
Our substrate does not fertilize the ocean water.
Our particles contain micronutrient minerals, embedded in particles, not freely dispersed in the water.
Our proprietary active and controlled sinking mechanism ensures no trace is left in the ocean surface.
In-Situ, robust tracking, monitoring and measurement throughout the whole activity is a key part of Gigablue’s ability to differentiate itself from ocean fertilization methods, where the carbon fate is unknown.
We’ve asked ourselves the hardest questions — about scale, safety, and permanence — long before anyone else did.
We also recently marked the end of the public consultation period on the Microalgae Carbon Fixation and Sinking methodology (MCFS), led by Puro.earth. We are grateful for every question raised throughout this process. A world-class scientists team addressed them all, and we’re committed to transparently sharing our results and progress as we move forward.
We know that bold innovation attracts scrutiny, tough questions, and debate. But it also signifies progress, which the world sorely needs to solve climate change.
So, thank you to this community for holding us, and each other, to a higher standard.
